Heroic Homemaking Tip Tuesday - 5 things to pray for our homeschool students

I get so many questions from beautiful, excited young mothers who are beginning to homeschool their children. They ask what curriculum to purchase, which planner system to buy, and how to come up with a schedule. All of these are important questions, but I believe the success of our homeschool (and every aspect of parenting for that matter!) begins with prayer. Here are 5 things to pray for our students:

1. That they would love Jesus more than they love anything else, have a soft heart to the things of God, and follow Him all the days of their lives.

He answered, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind," and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" ~ Luke 10:27

2. That they would obey, right away, with a cheerful heart. (It's very difficult to homeschool if the foundation of obedience isn't instilled and cultivated in our student's hearts.)

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise—  “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth." ~ Ephesians 6:1-3

3. That they would fall in love with learning.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go: I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. ~ Psalm 32:8

4. That they would be self-controlled and hard working.

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection, and to mutual affection, love. ~ 2 Peter 1: 5-7

All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads to only poverty. ~ Proverbs 14:23

5.  That God would spark a passion in their hearts to develop the talents He's placed within them - looking at every day as His classroom.

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." ~ Jeremiah 29:11

There are so many more things to be in prayer for our homeschool students. What are some specific things you pray for your children?
